Its unfortunate... A man taking advantage of his maid is a common happening in Nigeria and the rest of the world as well. But it surprised me more that after this tweet was posted, some people began to point fingers at the 12 year old maid (the victim), calling her a harlot & "HUSBAND SNATCHER". It is the habit of majority in my home country to blame the victim before the Rapist, despite all the education and publicity on child abuse and domestic violence. I wonder when we will be ready to move forward in Nigeria.
Who do we blame here?
- The married "he-goat" whose marriage is barely 2 year old and his wife is not enough for him?
- The maid, who is still a child and is yet to understand her purpose in life?
- The woman of the house who has to go to work everyday? should she not have a good sleep at night because of a randy husband?
- Do we blame the parents of the little girl who neglected their responsibility and sold their girl to modern slavery?
- Should we blame the government who has refused to put an age limit on persons fit to work as a maid (if you ask me, no maid/nanny should be less than 18 years of age)?
WHO DO WE BLAME?
